Let us call your kind attention that we are planning to offer three awards/grants on the Workshop in addition to the Travel award:
▼ GRANT FOR YOUNG INVESTIGATOR
The Scientific Committee of the C1-INH Deficiency Working Group respectfully requested of ViroPharma Incorporated an educational grant in the amount of USD 10,000 to provide funds for the establishment of a new grant in 2011. This grant is intended to recognize research into hereditary angioedema by young researchers in the field.
This grant may be presented to first authors, under the age of 35 years, who attend the workshop to deliver a presentation, which is rated as among the best by a three-member committee assigned by the organizers.
The "Grant for Young Investigator" shall be awarded biennially at each C1-INH Deficiency Workshop, to a maximum of four eligible recipients. Presentation of the grant shall take place at the closing ceremony of the event, by the Scientific Committee.
The first four individual grant winners will be presented at the 7th C1-INH Deficiency Workshop in 2011 – each winner will receive a grant to cover registration, hotel and travel expenses involved in attending the conference.
▼ "FOR HAE RESEARCH" AWARD
The Scientific Committee and the "FOUNDATION FOR THE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF FATAL ANGIOEDEMATOUS DISEASE" respectfully requested of ViroPharma Incorporated a research grant for USD 10,000 to be provided for the establishment of a new award, to recognize the pioneering work and contributions for the advancement in the understanding of HAE. This USD 10,000 research grant from Viropharma will be managed by the Foundation and will be remunerated (eg, in the form of reagents, kits or other such research- related equipment) for the awardee’s accomplishments at the 7th C1-INH Deficiency Workshop.
This award – founded by the C1-INH Deficiency Working Group in 2011 – is intended to acknowledge outstanding performance exhibited in scientific, clinical or organizational contributions in the field of C1 inhibitor deficiency disease. This is an award to be won by competition, as an honor expressing high-level moral and scientific appreciation. It will be a biennial award, to be presented at C1-INH Deficiency Workshop in 2011. Aspirant should submit an application, and the following should be included:
- Scientific/professional curriculum (one page).
- Theses of the application complete with supporting references (not to exceed 8000 characters with spaces).
All applications shall be evaluated by the Scientific Committee of the C1-INH Deficiency Working Group.
The recipient of the award should summarize his/her achievements at the conference in a 15-minute free presentation.
The recipient will also be presented with a prestigious one-off HAE research objet d’art produced by a local artisan to recognize their achievements.

▼ NEW! TRAVEL GRANT
supported by CSL Behring
A new travel grant is available for those applicants who are over 35 years and have no funding to cover conference registration, travel and accomodation costs.
Physicians eligible for necessary and appropriate travel grants should:
- See HAE patients and manage their therapy or do basic or clinical research to improve the diagnosis or treatment of HAE and
- not be able to fund participation at the workshop from their own hospital/institution.
Applicants should provide a written confirmation by their institution to confirm that they meet both requirements. The budget of the travel grant is limited to 10,000 Euro. Selection of grant recipients is done by the organizing committee. Applications submitted earlier have a greater chance of being accepted.
